The Phamile Foundation Updates- 12/11

December 2011

Kids with BananasIn the first few weeks since our first ever holiday flyer went out we are so blessed to have welcomed several new sponsors.

Carmen Tsang has funded Project #1 Nutritious Treats, which will provide 2 bananas a week for an entire year for the 60+ orphans at the PIO Orphanage in Phnom Penh Cambodia for an entire year.  The PIO was started by one of CNN Heroes of the year and they do incredible work in horrific conditions of the STEUNG MEANCHEY DUMP (110 acres of Hell, 100 foot deep).  Our primary objective is to get more of the children from the dump and surrounding area enrolled at the PIO (People’s Improvement Organization) school and orphanage.

We received donations from John & Linda Meadows, Mary Lou Patton, and Adrienne Love to help fund Project #7 – Providing a Teacher/Trainer for a Vocational Center to Give Young  Girls a Better Life.  The MAE SOT refugee School in Thailand provides a great education to the orphans and refugees up to the 6th grade when they are required to start working.  The Vocational Center will provide training, which upon graduation will allow the girls to earn 50% more than other entry-level workers. Without the training most girls would wind up in a undesirable situation (prostitution, slavery or servitude) without a better opportunity.

We also received a substantial Anonymous donation.
